Willie Creek Pearls is committed to making a long-term positive impact on climate change.
The Willie Creek Pearl Farm is accredited under the Eco Certification Program.
The ECO Certification program is designed to “assure travellers that certified products are backed by a strong, well managed commitment to sustainable practices and provides high quality nature-based tourism experiences.”
The Pearl Farm is quite unique in that the pearling operation has no negative impact on the natural environment. In addition, pearling is a very efficient industry with no wastage of any by-products. Whilst the main product, being the pearl, is used for jewellery items, the by-products such as the pearl meat are enjoyed in the world’s finest restaurants and the pearl shell is used to make beautiful mother of pearl hair clips, watch faces, ornaments and the like.
The Pearl Farm buildings themselves are built a tropical style to, not only blend in with the picturesque surroundings, but also take advantage of the natural breezes and passive solar design elements.
The Pearl Farm has an Environmental Protection Policy to protect the local fauna and a Native Flora Planting Program that has a specific emphasis on the planting of native fig trees for shade.
