We are delighted to share that Willie Creek Pearls has been recognised on an international scale, placing 5th out of 15 in the Tour Operators and Travel Agencies category at the Skål International 2025 Sustainable Tourism Awards.
This year’s awards were truly global, with an unprecedented 106 entries from 30 countries competing across eight categories, each reflecting a shared commitment to responsible, ethical, and innovative tourism practices. To be acknowledged alongside such an inspiring field of tourism leaders reinforces our dedication to sustainability and the positive impact we strive to make every day.
A special congratulations goes to Saruni Basecamp from Kenya, who took out the top spot in our category with their exceptional work in sustainable tourism. We are proud to stand among so many forward-thinking operators who are setting the standard for a more sustainable future in travel.
For Willie Creek Pearls, this recognition highlights the ongoing work across our operations, from our pearl farm to our retail showrooms, tours, and collaborations with organisations like Marine Biomedical. From launching the solar-powered tour vessel Mimi Pearl to rethinking how we manage resources behind the scenes, sustainability shapes decisions at every level of our operations.
This achievement reminds us that sustainable tourism is not a solo effort but a collective journey. We are excited to continue leading by example, showing visitors that it’s possible to experience the beauty of Broome and the fascinating journey of Australian South Sea cultured pearls while respecting the environment and supporting our community.
We are deeply proud to have our work recognised on an international stage and look forward to building on this momentum as we continue shaping a more sustainable future for tourism in Western Australia and beyond.
