Willie Creek Pearls at Elizabeth Quay has won the Bronze medal for Specialised Tourism Services at the 2018 Qantas Australian Tourism Awards.

LAUNCESTON – TASMANIA, March 2, 2019 – 30 years of excellence in the tourism, retail and hospitality industries is not the only thing Willie Creek Pearls is celebrating this year. The company was delighted to be awarded a Bronze medal at Friday night’s national Tourism Awards ceremony held in Launceston with Willie Creek Pearls CEO, Sally Hollins present to accept on behalf of the company and Banfield Family.

“Attending the National Tourism Awards as a finalist is a thrilling experience – let alone taking home a Bronze Medal, we are incredibly proud” said Ms. Hollins.

Willie Creek Pearls was awarded bronze in the Specialised Tourism Services category for their new Elizabeth Quay hybrid retail-tourism experience, which brings a slice of Broome to the heart of Perth, showing visitors how the unique Western Australian elements contribute to the production of their beautiful Australian South Sea Cultured Pearls.

“When a space became available at the iconic Elizabeth Quay development, we knew instantly that it was the perfect spot to bring our pearl experiences to Perth. The reception and support we have had from visitors and industry alike has been exceptional, they continually comment that the unique, hands-on insight we can provide into such a fascinating industry – pearl farming – is a truly “Western Australian” experience that is like no other” said Ms. Hollins.

Willie Creek Pearls offer the complete pearling experience, from shell to showroom. At Willie Creek Pearl Farm in Broome and in the heart of Perth at Elizabeth Quay, they take guests from all over the world on journeys of pearl discovery, from the history of pearling to the intricate practices of modern-day cultured pearl farming.

The pearl experiences on offer at their Elizabeth Quay location not only provide an insight into the processing of pearl farming, but also aim to create awareness for the Broome region as a whole and drive visitation to the pearling capital itself.

Pearl harvest experiences run 7 days a week in the stunning harvest room with views across the Swan River. The three products are either 30 or 60-minutes in length and range from $15 - $500. Willie Creek Pearls have developed a premium, once-in-a-lifetime Harvest your own Pearl experience offering visitors the chance to harvest their own Australian South Sea Cultured Pearl straight from an oyster to keep.

They have previously been awarded the prestigious Sir David Brand Award for Tourism and inducted into the Hall of Fame at a state level, but this is the first time they have brought home a National Award in their 30-year existence.

Willie Creek Pearls would also like to congratulate the 15 other deserving winners from Western Australia, many of whom are also from Australia's North West and Destination Perth regions.
