Mother of Pearl
I cherish an ingrained image in my mind and close to my heart, it’s an old photo of an infant sleeping wrapped in a blanket, wearing a white bonnet to protect her from the cold, held close by her mother. Her small hand clasped close to her mother’s gold chain necklace with precious single-stranded pearls. In the years that have passed so has the mother but her love remains passed on to her daughters and their daughters alike, as have the pearls now long cherished. Timeless pearls of wisdom, beauty and strength all with individual shape, size, colour and lustre and originating from small-seeded beads wrapped securely in the mantle of a mother’s blanket.
